School Business Manager/PA to the Headteacher

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full time, Term time

Salary Type: Support Staff

Salary Details: Grade E 26,544 to 29,583 pro-rata

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week (flexible). Term time (including INSET days) plus one week during school holidays and additional paid holiday allocation

Job/Person Summary

Lymington Junior School is looking to appoint an organised, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to help move the school forward on the next phase of our exciting journey.

The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and developing the strategic vision of our happy and thriving school, and work as a key part of dedicated and highly effective team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the Headteacher in managing the schools’ budget, including budget setting, forecasting and monitoring
  • Undertake the school’s procurement and ensure best value for money
  • Promote and help manage the many aspects of Health & Safety within school
  • Co-ordinate staff recruitment processes, ensuring they adhere to safer recruitment and other statutory guidance
  • Review and write school policies and/or risk assessments relevant to the role
  • Attend Governors meeting when required
  • Lead our fabulous Admin Team
  • Line manage the office, Site Manager and lunch team
  • Record and monitor staff attendance, including making cover arrangements where necessary
  • Act as the school’s point of contact for the Clerk to the Governing Body
  • Act as a confidential secretary to the Head teacher as required
  • Manage the school diary, including the Headteacher’s commitments within it
  • Be the school’s personnel manager, including acting as first point of contact in the event of staff absence

 

Experience Required

Whilst experience working in a similar role within a school setting would be an advantage, it is by no means essential as comprehensive training and continued professional development will be provided.

  • Is a positive and effective communicator who is confident in liaising with colleagues, children, parents and governors.

  • Is flexible and will adapt to the changing needs of the school
  • Has good computing skills
  • Shows an ability to use existing resources to overcome challenges and has the enthusiasm to create new and effective solutions
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Demonstrates integrity and understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Has the ability to delegate and show initiative
  • Is resilient and has the potential to grow within the role as the school moves forward

Hours of Work: 20 hours a week, term time only

Job/Person Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic fun and energetic person to join our amazing team of learning support assistants.

 

Candidates should have good communication skills, a patient and positive attitude, good numeracy and literacy skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

 

Prior experience in a similar role would be an advantage but is by no means essential as you will be part of a well established team and given support.
